Hmmm. What do I know about this? Not a lot! I just started this page, and will build upon it as my knowledge grows. Perhaps some very helpful FTM would like to write something? (hint hint)

But for now, I do have some information for you to check out.

I do know that it's just as hard for the boys as the girls, and that the issues are something that likely to be with you for a lifetime, just as it may be for the MTF.

First resource for you is my FTM Links page. Lots of connections to others that can support the FTM with the information he needs.

Are you FTM and do your parents need someone to talk to? Do you need to talk? Be sure to Email my Friend Pat.    Pat is the wonderfully supportive mom of Danny, a FTM on the US East Coast, and has offered her support via email to others that may need it. Please check out the wonderful "Coming Out" letter that she wrote.

On the Gender Education and Advocacy site is an article called "Getting Real about FTM Surgery" that seems to cover a lot of bases.

At the Gender Identity Center of Colorado's site is a "Frequently Asked Questions" list for FTM transsexuals.

Also interesting are images from the book Body Alchemy from a web site by the author, Loren Cameron. Geared mostly towards FTM, it also includes some MTF face shots. There are a few amazing (and graphic) FTM post-op pictures, and it's more than I would have thought they could do! Enjoy.

Surgical Options

Here is a little tidbit on a procedure, as reported in Medscape: "Reconstruction surgery for a female to male transsexual usually involves mastectomy, hysterectomy and creating an aesthetically appealing neophallus. We have successfully inserted an inflatable prosthesis using the AMS CX prosthesis in a 45 year old transsexual, who had a large bulky neophallus constructed from the anterior abdominal subcutaneous fat, about 9 years ago. The single cylinder CX prosthesis was well anchored to the symphysis pubis using a dacron windsock tubing, the activation pump was placed in the dependent pouch of the right labium and the reservior in the usual perivesical space. The patient subsequently had debulking procedure using liposuction to create a more aesthetic and functional phallus. To date, the inflatable neophallus prosthesis is functioning well."

Things progress!
